Final Project

 Evolution-opoly

An educational board game to help teach some of the concepts of evolution. The game is played similarly to the original Monopoly game. Players (also known as students in this game) can pick from one of 6 pieces: a textbook, a beetle, a globe, a school bus, a pencil, or a backpack, to use as their pawn on the board.

The player will place their selected piece on the research square, and the game would proceed at normal. When a student lands on an evolution topic they can elect to purchase it. If they purchase the topic they are given a student care for that topic.

In the original monopoly, players can buy houses once they have purchased all of the same color properties. Then, once they have purchased 4 houses on each property of the same color they can purchase a hotel.
In evolution-opoly this is a little different. Students can purchase degrees for their evolution topics. To purchase an associate's degree they must briefly description their topic. To purchase their undergraduate degree they must provide examples of their topic. To purchase their master's degree they must explain their topic on a conceptual level. To earn their doctorate's degree they must explain how their topics of the same color relate/interact with each other. Once all 4 degrees are earned the student becomes a professor of their evolution topics.
There are also additional spaces placed around the board to tests the student's knowledge of evolution, and ensure that they are getting a well-rounded education. These spaces are: POP quiz, and Apply Your Skills.

The Apply Your Skills cards have you donate money to science if the student is unable to provide an answer. This money gets placed in the center of the board. The payments for the spaces Pay for On-Campus Parking, Pay for Textbooks, and Pay for Dorm Room also get placed in the center in the board. Then if someone lands on the Getting Data in the Field space they get to collect the money from the center of the board.

The object of the game is the become professor of as many color blocks of topics as possible, to be able to help teach the other students on topics they struggle with and to gain as much knowledge about Evolution as possible.
